With the October 7 season premiere rapidly approaching, FX Networks has released a new trailer for American Horror Story: Hotel. Although this video is only 30 seconds long, it takes us through the hallways of this bizarre hotel, giving us brief introductions to all of the main characters, including Lady Gaga, who is seen sporting an incredibly long head of hair. We don't get too much insight into who these characters really are, but they all certainly do look intriguing.
The 13-episode fifth installment of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning franchise, American Horror Story: Hotel, premieres on FX on October 7th. American Horror Story: Hotel features an all-star cast of Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matthew Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock. Ryan Murphy serves as Co-Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, Writer and Director of American Horror Story: Hotel and Brad Falchuk is Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Writer.
Tim Minear, Bradley Buecker, Jennifer Salt, James Wong and Alexis Martin Woodall also serve as Executive Producers. The American Horror Story franchise is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. The most recent installment, American Horror Story: Freak Show, has been nominated for a franchise-record 19 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited Series. Over its first four installments, the American Horror Story franchise has received a total of 70 Emmy Award nominations, with the first three installments earning a total of eight Emmy awards.
American Horror Story: Hotel marks the first season that doesn't feature star Jessica Lange, who left the American Horror Story series after starring in the first four seasons. Back in October, series creator Ryan Murphy revealed that, although each season takes place in a completely different place and time, they are all connected, somehow. The first season was set in present-day Los Angeles, with the second set at a Massachusetts Asylum in 1964. The third season takes place in present-day New Orleans at a Coven full of witches, and last season was set at a Jupiter, Florida Freak Show.
American Horror Story: Hotel brings the series back to Los Angeles, set at the Cortez Hotel in downtown L.A. Series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed during the TCA Summer Tour that the story is inspired by the mysterious death of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel in downtown L.A. The video of Elisa Lam from an elevator surveillance camera showed the woman seemingly interacting with an unseen entity. She was later found dead in the water tank on the roof of the hotel in February 2013. While we wait to learn more about these characters, check out the new trailer below.
