The trailer and poster have arrived for the romantic political comedy Accidental Love, which is the first 'Alan Smithee' release in quite sometime. Starring heavy hitters Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, the movie was demeaned so good, director David O. Russell had to change his name to Stephen Greene just so it could be released.

Originally titled Nailed, Accidental Love follows Jessica Biel as Sammy Joyce, a socially awkward small-town receptionist who gets a nail shot into her head by a clumsy workman. This elicits wild sexual urges in the woman, and she soon finds herself on a crusade to Washington. There, she will fight for the rights of the bizarrely injured. She meets an immoral congressman (Jake Gyllenhaal) who takes advantage of her sex drive and capitalizes on her crusade as Joyce heads into her own career in politics.

Most of Accidental Love was filmed in 2008 before production was shut down, and a key scene was unable to be completed. Though producers tried to rescue the film, David O. Russell bailed in July of 2010, and decided that he could no longer call the film his own. Since that time, he has become an Oscar nominated director for such hits as Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and The Fighter. The comedy stands as an odd 'what if' for his career now. Take a look before the film hits VOD and select theaters in February. Is there enough good here to make it worthy?
