The TCA Winter press conference is continuing throughout the weekend, with Fox holding an extensive panel earlier today. During the presentation, Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman confirmed that the network is in talks to bring The X-Files back to the small screen. He also said he wouldn't mind seeing the 2005 cult series Prison Break return in some capacity, but there are no concrete plans at the moment. It was also hinted that Fox may bring 24 back, after launching the successful 24: Live Another Day miniseries this past summer.

Variety was on the scene, and reports that this new version of 24 will be a reboot. It may launch in 2016, but there is a catch. Kiefer Sutherland will not return, and the series will not revolve around the charter of Jack Bauer. It is also described as a 'one-off'. Reporter Cynthia Littleton tweeted the following:

Before 24: Live Another Day became a critical and ratings hit, it was believed that 20th Century Fox was planning a Jack Bauer movie. Shortly after the miniseries finale aired on Fox, it was revealed that producer Brian Grazer was still considering a movie, and that the studio had an idea for the big screen that he was particularly keen on. At the time, it was also acknowledged that a second 24 miniseries may happen, which would complicate plans for the feature film. If Kiefer Sutherland doesn't appear in the next version of 24 Fox has planned, its possible that we may see the movie sometime in the future after all.

It isn't known why Kiefer Sutherland doesn't want to return for the next installment of 24. We'll have to wait until more details are revealed by the network. What do you think about 24 without Kiefer Sutherland?
